Lake Ozark Assistant City Administrator/Economic Development Coordinator Harrison Fry and new City Administrator David Mitchem have quickly forged a relationship that is delivering for the city of Lake Ozark residents and business owners. At a work session held yesterday, Jan 11th Fry and Mitchem unveiled what they have coined as “New Directions for Lake Ozark”.
Mitchem stated “Our community is about to change, we know that large scale development is coming to Lake Ozark. As a community, we can respond/react to development as it occurs or take a proactive approach, giving city leaders an opportunity to have a strong influence over the changing character of Lake Ozark”. Mitchem prefers the latter and so did the board, after much discussion each and every one of Mitchem and Fry’s talking points received a nod of approval by alderman to go forward with discussion and ideas on how to best implement many measures that will position Lake Ozark as a city not just ripe for growth but ready for it. Mitchem further stated that “by thoughtfully addressing changes to planning & zoning and building codes in advance of development, leaves the city with more control over its future”.
Harrison Fry stated that “Lake Ozark is a city that, by population alone, does not stand out too many. It’s because of the unique dynamics of the lake region, the citizens and businesses here, our proximity to key infrastructure, several communities acting with a regional approach, that we are able to punch above our weight class”. Fry further stated that he feels “it’s an exciting time to be part of the city team. As David stated, we are now in a position where we can choose to shape our future rather than wait for it to occur. Yesterday, the board supported shaping it”.
As Mayor of Lake Ozark, I am very pleased that our top city officials are thinking like they are. Some of it is common sense, some of it is a vast amount of Economic Development experience Mitchem offers and the ambition and drive Harrison provides and delivers via his second to none ability to speak.
Just a few short months ago there was much discourse over city leadership and administration. The difficulties we once faced have led us to an amazing and maturing relationship between Fry and Mitchem. Like Harrison, I too think it’s an exciting time to be a part of Lake Ozark leadership.
Keep watching for updates on “NEW DIRECTIONS FOR LAKE OZARK”.
